Dropped the car in Toulouse, France and flew to Morocco.

Today we're talking about San Sebastian in the Basque country on the northeast coast of Spain. It has the lot: beautiful beaches, interesting architecture, great fashion and shopping, but the highlight here has definitely been the tapas (otherwise known as pinxtos - they have their own language here by the way; and just when were getting used to Spanish! Wow! We had a couple of nights booked in Olmedo, just outside Valladolid, which had planned to have some quiet relax time. There is quite a large spa here as the town is built on huge natural springs, which is amazing considering the desert-like landscape strecthing for hundreds of miles in every direction. What a surprise Lamego has been. A real highlight of the trip. The amount of fruit growing on trees on the way up here was gorgeous. Peaches, lemons, apples, figs, lemons. And grapevines as far as you can see, with so many grapes hanging off them.   We stayed at a sort of Manor house. It was like staying with a rich and glamerous aunt, the type that would be featured in Portuguese 'Hello'. You're  free to wander around their house which is packed with antiques...

We cut out Valencia so we could spend more time in La Bisbal and Madrid. Unfortunately this meant a long drive to Madrid. We made it ok, but what would be the best thing to encounter after 9 hours in the car? We were greeted with Madrid rush hour gridlock, demostration cutting off most streets and a GPS that went on strike. Stiff Mojitos were in order after that. What a fantastic city! Again, we wish we had longer here. It´s hard to get used to the eating-late ...
