I went a walk in the morning around my area....up early again!!! Walked along the river and past the school and just decided to keep wondering...eventually found a huge park kinda like Kelvingrove, with a skate park, tennis courts, badminton courts and outside gym equipment and the river runs through it. You can start to see the cherry blossom in some places so got a few good pics! My fav Purple Becca Boo!! They should be in full bloom by the end of the week! It was too hot to walk around tho and had to retreat to my flat to cool off by 1:30!
At 3pm I walked along to Hwaseo station where I was meeting Eunju for a day trip to Seoul, the train journet took about an hour and was soooo cheap.... 1800 won so about 90p!!! Seoul was absolute madness, im so glad I dont live there...but it was amazing to visit and will def be back for more!!! We walked through the Insadong area where there is alot of shops, galleries and a mass of people so you basically bump into everyone as you go and Koreans dont say sorry as Eunju's husband Lee told me unless you accidently land on top of someone! We went into a gallery for a wee look around at some birds sculptures, very strange....never really got that bit of art! We then went into the Ssamzi-gil which is a mall full of korean traditional arts and craft stalls. The building is very famous in korea and millions visit it! There were people making traditional korean cookies(yummy) and also rice cake, ofcourse the guy who was hammering the rice spotted me in the crown and made me have a go!! I have photographic evidence! The hammer was soooo heavy and it stuck to the rice so made it hard to pick up! I also got to watch them making Kkultarae, which is a sort of sweet snack. They start off with a lump of honey and make it into a donut shape then keep dipping it in some kind of corn flour and keep stretching and twisting it to double how many strings of honey they have until they end up with 16000- apparently this is enough to keep the bad spirits at bay! I also tried another traditional korean snack (cant remember the name!) but the stall it is made at is famous in Seoul and we Q'd for 20mins to have one! I think it tastes similar to a donut but inside the fill it with sugar and mashed peanuts so when they fry it the middle turns into a sticky peanut goo.....DELISH!
We then walked up through the Samcheongdong area whic is full of snazzy little restaurants and trendy shops. Some of the restaurant building are pretty fantastic, they look so swish! Especially the chinese restaurants. We went to a Pasta and Wine restaurant, Soowarae- apparently the best in the city and I had a lovley Carbonara! Wolfed it down! Pretty cheap too! Bout a fiver!
When we walked after dinner I found out that the president of korea lives in what is called The Blue House haha, like The White house in USA. Quite cute eh!
Also discovered Duran Duran are playing at the Olympic Park in Seoul on the 17th! Pretty tempted! No comments please about my music tastes!!!
