On the 11th September I woke up early to pick up Mum and Dad at the airport! I had a little sign ready for them when they came out the arrivals gate haha! I think we all got a bit emotional when we had saw each other. So their adventure began and he headed into Suwon by limousine bus- so cheap just 12,000 won for an hours trip! We eventually made it to my flat where we unpacked all my goodies brought from home. Including Irn Bru bars !!! :-) Easily pleased eh! We then headed along to Mum and Dad's hotel- The Dormy Inn, only to find out check in was not until 2pm! SO we had a wee wander around the area surrounding Suwon station and enjoyed some ice cream from good ol' Baskin Robbins. I think by this time they had a rough idea of how hot it was gonna be over the next 2 weeks. We headed to the subway for thier 1st ever trip on the subway-even got them some T-money cards so it was easier for them just to swipe in and out.We took the one stop back along to Hwaseo to visit the school. Mum and Dad were greeted by lots of kids leaving school and experienced what I get every morning when I come to school! Screams of SHARON TEACHER!!!! HELLO!! HOW ARE YOU?!!!! coming from all directions! We first went to say hello to the Vice Principle who doesn't speak English so I only understood that he said Welcome to our school and you look the same as Sharon! haha! Next we popped into my staff room to see my friends Eunju, Sunny, Anne, Nanshil, Mr Jong and Mrs Pak who were all very excited to see my mum and dad. We chatted for a while before heading back to see the Vice Principle for a translation from Eunju and to see the Principal. The Principle invited us in his office for a wee chat- I think Mum and Dad were amazed by his office- it's a pretty amazing office! Mum ofcourse bubbled the whole time hahaha! I could understand most of the conversation in Korean so was pretty chuffed! The principle also made a comment to them about how he wants me to marry a korean man and stay in korea hahaha! hhmm dunno about that!
Anyhoo I think mum and dad left the school with a great impression so it was time to relax and start to enjoy their trip! Back on the subway we went to go back to the hotel and check in. The hotel was fantastic! I was a bit concerned I must admit beforehand because I didnt know much about the hotel as it was the koreans that booked it. But what a relief, it was everything they needed, living-room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom ofcourse and even a study! Everything was really modern and brand new! After a wee rest in the hotel we headed to Suwon station for dinner- my favourite korean dish 짐닥 which is a very spicy chicken and noodle stew. Delicious! I think it became one of mum and dad's fav's too! So cheap aswell, you get a massive dish and a portion of rice is enough for the 3 of us and it only cost 30,000 won which is about 15 pounds. The rice is only 50p which is mad! and coke etc just a pound! After dinner we headed to the busy street packed with restaurants and bars. We enjoyed a cool korean beer, Cass in the Rose Bar.
Early bed tonight for our flight to Jeju Island in the morning!
