So after about 2 months in Spain and Portugal I finally moved on and was on my way to Germany. My first stop was Frankfurt, cheap flight what can i say. I was told by many there wasnt much to do there including Catrin who was born there so that wasnt a good sign. She was now living in Hamburg and doing her best to get me up there for a visit which I wasnt hard convincing it was just the time and money factor which would play a part in me getting there.
I spent a day in Frankfurt seeing the sights on a free walking tour and that night some people from the hostel and i went out in the sticks to a place where all the food served is MASSIVE!!!! A portion of schnitzel was like 2 massive pieces, i shared a half portion and we still couldnt finish it. It was quite funny, it was my first time in Frankfurt and i had made it to this tiny little place for the food walking through forest like terrain in the dark and all, and Cat who had grown up here and only been here maybe once in her life!
The next day i went to Heidleburg with some friends id made in the hostel. Unfortunately we left quite late in the day so my time there was limited and didnt get to enjoy the beautiful town as much as I would have liked to :( Then i made a quick return back to Frankfurt as I was being picked up by a stranger in what the locals use as a car pooling thing to get myself to Hamburg and see Cat. I was so lucky that the girl was really lovely and not only that drove a 6mth old BMW! Hey, got to do it German style hehe.
After arriving late in Hamburg Cat and I caught up over a couple of glasses of bubbly before heading to bed for a big day the next day. The next day was spent at Lena´s place a friend of Cat´s to celebrate Lena´s bday the weekend before. It was basically a day filled with food and drinks before heading out on the town, the red light district area, for dancing and more drinking!!! By the time we were getting close to finishing up or maybe we finished up because of it, im not sure, it was time for the Fish Markets of a Sunday morning. Its tradition to head there straight after clubbing or get up really early to make it, either way. Then it was off to bed at about almost 7am that day only to get up at 3.30pm a full on weekend to say the least. Cat and i felt bad so we headed for the Jungfernsteig area for some dinner and to see the area before we were headed back to bed!
The next couple of days i did some sightseeing in Hamburg like a proper tourist before i was making my way to Croatia via Dresden and Prague, a long way around to get to Croatia i know. It seems Croatia is a difficult place to get to and from, i think cause tourism is still fairly new to the country and they havent got means of transport sorted out yet and is quite expensive. So i caught the train to Dresden from Hamburg via a change in Berlin and spent a few hours sightseeing in Dresden before i was back on the train to Prague.
When I arrived in Prague i made my way to the airport and spent the night there. I figured that me getting to the airport at about 10pm and me having to be at the airport by 4am there was no point getting a bed for the night and instead stayed awake all night camping out in the airport. I also figured i had not done that yet on my trip so had to do it at least one camping out in a public place for the night, so i did! Plus i was then one step closer to making my way to Croatia and seeing Aims & Lozza, yay!!
