The first real day in New York. We weren't sure what we were going to do today, but we got it all figured out! We went down for breakfast which were bagels with Jelly, cinnamon rolls and banana-pecan muffins. The coffee wasn't all that good since it didn't really taste like coffee, but that was alright. After watching the daily American good morning news, we decided to move out and go explore. Since we got lost into finding the hotel yesterday, we were kind of anxious to see where it was, the subway station to take the subway to Manhattan (because that's where every journey starts right!).
But we found it quite soon after a quick stop at dunkin' donuts for their mint-chocolate chip-iced-latte, which was actually quite good! We took off to Gate 4 of the Yankee stadium to buy tickets for tomorrow's game and surprisingly, they weren't all too expensive. So then we found the subway we needed to take and not too late after that we arrived near time square. As we were walking, our eyes grew bigger with amazement and when we saw the bright lights shining in the distance, our eyes were starting to glisten with tears. We were both so amazed and it hit us that we are actually here, in the big city of dreams. It felt surreal and yet so so real. It was like a dream coming true.
We started out with a Starbucks which seemed to be sweeter than we get at home, and started walking down the streets. Of every corner we took pictures. We went to the Hershey's store, the Disney store (which has the great lanters of tangled above the escelators!), the M&M world (a green M&M dressed up as the statue of liberty, what is cooler?!) and last but not least, the Toys R Us. You may think, why is a toy store so cool? First of all, it's the biggest in the world, right before Hamley's in London! Their Marvel section was great and they have a real barbie house and the whole Twilight cast set up in barbies, which was cool in my opinion. But they also had the chocolate factory there from Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Or at least, that's what it looked like. It was a Wonke department in the store. They had a thing called Candy Land, which was great! I found YOLO chocolate there and lego-brick candy and more of those things. It was really cool to see.
After that we went to see more shops, Macy's, which made me want to have so much money because it's an all brand store! And other than that we saw that there a not that many official electronic stores and whatnot. I bought an Oscar because it will look great in my new room! And we ate our dinner at a place called Fresh&Go, where they had delicious salads.
Last but not least, we went on to Lincoln Center on 68th Broadway, where we went to the cinema (movie: The way way back). The popcorn there is different, fresh and the butter tastes funny. The drinks were great! But after a fun day and blisters on our feet from all the walking, we really could use some rest!
