Traveling is much more extraordinary and tiring than expected. It are the little things through the eyes of a human being or a young traveler like us that make a flight amazing. The lamnd of the Netherlands covered in little twinkling lights is more beautiful than any camera could capture. It is a memory that will be kept for all eternity.
Also, and eleven hour overlay is not as exciting as one should expect. The airport in Rekjavik is not that big and we were really surprised when everything closed down at 1am, leaving is us in a tired mess. We tried to sleep but we couldn't. It was the fact that the excitement was running through our veins. Even when we had moments of weakness where we didn't want to do anything but sleep, we kept ourselves awake in order to get into the upcoming timezone. The Icelandic Krone is the weirdest currency that we have ever seen. A bill of 1000 Icelandic Krone being way less than ten euros. The food on the airport was alright, I had the weirdest smoothie ever.
And then there was the thing where we almost weren't allowed to go to New York and got declined at the boarding gates. The reason for this was that we did not have a return ticket from the USA and we did not have a valid Visa (other than the tourist visa that we have). We had to wake Steve up in order to get into the plane. The funny thing is (or not so funny at all) is that our original plan was to drive up to Canada instead of flying. And if we did that, our USA adventure would never have happened.
But here we are, 2588 miles or 4165 kilometers later, in the USA! In New York. Our passports gained a new stamp and our heads gained a new experience. Let our New York adventure begin.
