Where to start, where to start. Such a day like this is something I can only imagine in my dreams. We saw whole downtown Manhattan in two hours thanks to the lovely city bus tours which we will be taking tomorrow for other parts of Manhattan. Things we passed were great to see. Small things like street signs alone are great enough, but all the buildings and street view structure that you see is incredible! Everyone here would feel like an ant in comparison to the streets and buildings here. We passed things like the world trade center, ground zero, the Vietnam soldier memorials, China Town, Central park and loads loads more. New York is an incredible city and even when this was just downtown New York, every district seems like a village within a village to me.
After the tour, we needed to kill a little time before going off to the Yankee stadium for the game against the Tampa Bay Rays, we walked yet again into the city. We got off the bus at Rockafeller center, which is a great place to walk around as well. We visited the NBC center, where we could find merchandise of basically all the great shows that they have produced. Even Saved by the Bell and Friends were among them. And SNL was something not to forget. But as every human being in the hot weather and whatnot, we got hungry. We didn't want to eat at a McDonalds or another building like that again, so we looked for something that we didn't know. We came along at a place called Jimmy's. They sold burgers as well, but we didn't take them. Along with our ice cold iced teas (which is very very wanted after a hot day like yesterday), we decided to try some quesadillas. They were amazing!
And then we went back to the Bronx, got our Yankee merchandise and went off to the game! I myself didn't know too much about baseball before the game started, but Netteh filled me in big time and half way through I sounded like every old supporter of the loved baseball team in New York. The game was brilliant! Unfortunately the Yankees lost, but that's all right. After tasting a stadium hot dog and tasting the blue cotton candy, we certainly couldn't miss the ambiance in the great stadium where legendary games had been played. Visiting a baseball game has been a great experience and it is something that we would consider us so lucky that we, simple Dutch girls, were yet able to experience something that was only imaginable in movies before.
The only downside of the day is that my shoulders got so sunburned that even a lobster looks pale next to me.
