Last time I use this photo, I promise.
This week went really well and I can't believe it's already over. Mr. Flanagan came in on Wednesday morning to observe me, and I was really quite nervous. I was pacing up and down the room, going over and over my lesson plan, reading and rereading my white board. I knew I was prepared and I would be fine, but I gave myself much too much time to sit in the room alone before class started.
The second Mr. Flanagan and the students walked in, all my nerves went away. I started class and felt so in my element, I completely forgot I was even being graded. The kids were complete angels, and I only had to address some off topic talking with a few individuals. The kids showed how bright they were and seemed to really enjoy the lesson. I actually had a lot of fun getting a few of the students up to the board. I even got a chance to get around to all of the individual questions during the individual work time.
Mr. Flanagan told me I did a great job and that he was really impressed with my organization, and how prepared and confident I was during my entire lesson. He did tell me I should try to preview the lesson a little more in the begining of the class, so I do have something to work on. I know from my last placement that I need to work on those first few minutes of my lessons. I need to start thinking about some good attention getters and previewing my lesson now that I don't really have room to put up an agenda on the board.
I'm really excited that everything this week went so well. I was on my own all week, and no crashing and burning! (Hold your I told you so please). Now I get to go on some adventures with one of my favorite people in the world (hey Cate, that's you). Off to London on Monday then to Paris and back to venture around Ireland. Look for plenty of pictures coming soon!

Steve That's good, Shannon. I'm proud of you. Concerning the openings of your lessons, remember what some guy at LH has told you: Tell them what you're going to tell them, then tell them, then tell them what you told them.
