So I have made it through my first week. I'm definitetly a bit more comfortable at the school and getting to know the kids a little better as well. I haven't had the chance to work with them a whole lot yet, but that will change soon enough.
Since I didn't teach this week, I've been able to get ahead in my planning. I have the general lay out for my entire chapter as well as 5 out of the 8 lessons already written up. My plan for the weekend is to get the remaining 3 lessons and test written and get all remaining work from my last placement done. I feel like I've had a lot of time since I got here, but since I've been settling in to everything, I haven't gotten near enough done. No big outings planned for the weekend, so I think it'll be mostly a work weekend.
As I've sat through Mr. Sinnot's classes, I haven't gotten any less nervous about taking over next week. They're not bad kids what so ever, but they are talkative. It's going to be rough keeping them quiet, especially not knowing their names. I am afraid their going to try to take advantage of that. I think I will be investing in some popsicle sticks over the weekend and using that to keep them on their toes about me calling on them. I think that will also help me to learn their names faster.
Next week Mr. Sinnot will be gone Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Again, not really helping my nervousness with the younger kids. I guess if I crash and burn on Tuesday, no one will be there to see it. I just have to get the hang of it by Wednesday since my advisor here will be coming to observe me for my midterm grade. No pressure.
I'll definitely be going to my stress releaver park (where I took this blogs photo) every day again next week. I love having that huge park, I never have to go the same route twice (nudge nudge dad). Since Ashley and I are room, so it's perfect that I can get out and walk or just sit and read for a few hours. It's not exactly warm here, but it hasn't really rained much so I don't mind the chilly weather.
This time next week I'll be getting ready for my 2 week break. I'm really excited for everything that Cate and I have planned, but I don't want my first week of teaching to fly by too quickly. I am also excited for when I get back to maybe pick up some more classes. Since I'll have my ratios and proportions chapter already planned, adding more classes will be more fun and exciting rather than stressful.

Cate Now you get to see what is like to work with a different group of kids, which is great, not every class is going to be as immaculately behaved as your first placement. It gives you an opportunity to work on classroom management. They may be talkative but you will do just fine!
Jenn Shannon, looks as though you are having a blast! What a great experience for you! Your photos of your Giant's Causeway outing are breathtaking! Can't imagine what it must really be like! Good luck this week! You'll do great! I've seen you in action and know you have what it takes to get the job done well!
Shannon Giant's Causeway was really amazing, I'm so glad we made it there. Thanks so much, the teaching seems to be going a lot better than I expected so I'm really excited about that too.
