We got to Cartagena a little after 2pm and spent the afternoon at the nice rooftop pool at Erick's friends' hotel. We then met the big wedding group at Santissimo restaurant that evening for dessert. Afterwards, we walked around downtown which was very pretty at night.
The next day, Erick's friend Kusi (the groom) organized an amazing boat tour for all 18 of us and our first stop was Playa Blanca. Erick and I went snorkeling there and he dove down a good 10 feet and picked up a spiny animal and 2 starfish which we brought back to show everyone. Next, we went to an aquarium that was really cool. They showed us different kinds of huge fish - mero, robalo, sabano, tuna etc. and we got to see how they get food. It was very interesting - one of them always swims in circles. We also saw cat sharks that shimmied their bodies up onto a platform for food and then an amazing bottleneck dolphin show. We also saw sea horses and got to touch sea cucumbers. Next we took the boat to another island where we swam out to a coral reef. It was really scary because it was so close I kept thinking that I was going to run into it. I saw a lot of cool fish though and even a moray. It was a very tiring swim back but I was proud of myself for doing it - I don't know if I have ever swam so far!
