I got into Bogota before 5am, having taken the night bus from Manizales. I left my stuff in luggage storage and took the bus to Zipequira to see the famous Salt Cathedral. This salt cathedral was opened in 1995 because the original one made in the 50s collapsed. There was a hallway w/ the 14 Stations of the Cross. In each one Christ was represented by a big salt cross. Some of the interpretation was rather interesting. Afterwards we went to the narthex and into the 3 naves of the church - birth (with a nacimiento), life (w/ the Adam & God carving & the illusionist cross that looked like it was hanging but it was really carved into the wall w/ a light) and death (with a weird rectangle on top of a rectangle w/ purple light.) The last part of the tour included a reflection pool. I ended up not having time to do the mine tour or the museum and was upset when they wouldn't refund my money. Luckily the manager there was the ONLY unfriendly person I encountered in all of Colombia! I got back to the bus terminal in Bogota at 2pm in plenty of time to take my taxi to the airport w/out a problem. I got to Cartagena at dinner time and hung out w/ 2 Hungarian guys - it was sooooo hot and humid there!!
