My tour to the Totumo volcano mud bath started out a little crazy - we drove all over the place and I ended up in 3 different cars before finally getting to the volcano after 11am! The mud bath was the coolest, weirdest feeling ever!! The mud makes you float and there were just tons of bodies and limbs everywhere! I got my massage and a few good pictures. Some people dunked their whole head in but I didn't want the mud in my mouth or eyes so I just covered everything in mud except my mouth and eyes. After about 20 minutes in the mud bath it was time to go to the lake to "wash off". It was impossible to get the mud off! The lake was really shallow and so full of mud I think that it was just not happening! I got back to the bathroom and even went under the shower and still no luck getting all of the mud off. Finally, I had to put my clothes on even though I wasn't "clean" and then the bus dropped me off at a roadside café. I thought I could get a bus from there to Santa Marta, saving time by not going all the way back to Cartagena but I was wrong! I waited for over an hour and a half and finally caught a bus to Baranquilla. I then had to take a taxi and another bus and by the time I got to Santa Marta I had wasted 7 hours - ugh!! I enjoyed some air conditioning after being soooo hot all day then took a LONG shower and had to wash & rinse my bathing suit twice to finally get the mud out!! Just when I thought I could go to bed in peace I saw a mouse scurry under my door!! Ugh! I got it out but then it came back so I told the guy and he shoved newspaper under my door to keep him out! Ick!
