Saz and Dave's travels
We arrived in Nha Trang at 6am this morning after a terrible journey on the 10 hour overnight bus. We slept a little bit but it was really hard to get comfortable as the seats in front were really far back. Dave got the aisle seat but still had to sit at a really twisted angle and I had the window seat which meant I couldn't put my legs down the whole way and had to sit with my knees up against the seat in front. The Vietnamese guy who was in the seat in front was really rude and just slammed his seat back into our knees without a backward glance - might think twice about getting the bus again however cheap it was!
When we got to Nha Trang it was pissing it down with rain and we were all a bit worried as we had no accomodation booked and didn't fancy lugging our bags about. Luckily the bus driver dropped us off at a couple of hotels for us to check out the rooms and see if we wanted to stay. We didn't really like the look of any of the ones we were shown, so leaving our big bags with a hotel the three of us ventured out into the pouring rain. We were all soaked within minutes and we must have looked at about 10 different hotels which were all ok but Rochelle really wanted a room with a view of the sea. It was worth the trek though as the last hotel we looked at, the golden hotel was really nice and only 10 dollars per night (we managed to barter them down!).
After getting our rooms sorted we went to go and pick up our big bags but when we looked outside we saw that the road had flooded so much that even the pavements were now underwater and water was washing in through the front door of the hotel! We were tempted to call a cab but we thought it would be fun to wade (up to our knees deep!) through the flood to get our bags. We did get a taxi back to the golden hotel, however it couldn't make it all the way there as the water was too deep and we had to go the rest of the way on foot with our bags held above our heads!
As it was raining we went for a little sleep until lunchtime when we got up and went to the bar next door for some pool and food - Dave lost 3 times to me haha. By this time the water had gone down a bit but it was still raining hard - so much for the beatiful beach! Later we met up with Rochelle for tea (still raining will it ever stop?) and lots of scrummy food although Dave ordered a truly disgusting cinnamon shake which he promptly swapped for a Saigon beer! Hope it stops raining tomorow!
