Saz and Dave's travels
This morning we checked out of our room at the New World Lodge, then leaving our bags in reception went off to see some more of Bangkok. It was incredibly hot today and we did a lot of walking! We went up the Golden Mount - a temple at the top of hundreds of steps with impressive views of the city. The hardest thing about Bangkok is crossing the roads! Even when the lights are on red it doesn't mean you will arrive at the other side of six lanes of traffic in one piece!
Later on we went for icecream and beer then went to catch the train at Hua Lamp Phong station to Chiang Mai. Dave picked up some kebabs for the journey but they were gross - full of fat and bones so we binned them. The train had about 14 bunk beds per carriage, which was surprisingly comfy with clean sheets and pillows. The toilet was just a hole in the ground though and quite difficult to balance whilst squatting when the train was swerving about!! 13 hours later we arrived in Chiang Mai.
