Saz and Dave's travels
We were woken up this morning by Ray at 8am but everyone was really tired as noone had slept very well. Most people kept waking up in the night as the hard bamboo floor was really uncomfortable and it got incredibly cold in the night too. I had on my fleece, trousers, sleeping bag and blanket and was still cold!!
When everyone slowly got out of bed we congregated around the fire where there was tea and coffee in big tin kettles and after that we sat down to a breakfast of fresh pinapple, watermelon, egg and toast. When everyone was ready we walked for 2 hours to a waterfall where some people went for a swim and ate the lunch Ray had cooked for us that morning - noodles wrapped up in a banana leaf! Later we went to a little beach next to a river where the current was strong enough to swim against so that you didn't go anywhere! It was really hot again today so the swim was really refreshing.
After some more walking we got to the second village where we would be staying that night. This one was much more tourist orientated and the tribe had only lived there for 3 years. There was a little shop where you could get cold drinks and a cold shower which we used straight away - even though it did smell a bit! The toilets were all hole in the ground again except for one dodgy western one and there was again no electricity - just candles.
Lots of random rabid looking dogs were wandering about which was a bit scary.
Tea tonight was pumkin curry with tofu and veg and rice of course. After which we played cards and then me, micky and the Danish lady went to get a Thai massage - 1 hour for 120 bahts (bout 2 quid). It was really painful though and I just wanted it to end!!
Dave had lots of Chang with the other blokes while the women were getting their massages and they all learnt how to say 1 to 10 in Thai!!
We went to bed a bit later tonight - about 11 in the hope we would sleep better if we were tired!
