Saz and Dave's travels
Today began with a walk along the main shopping street which was packed with bargains. We were very good and bought nothing as our bags are just too heavy for any more stuff! We stopped for a couple of minutes on a bench to read our guidebook when a local teacher came and sat between us telling us all about the highlights of Bangkok. He was very energetic and friendly, taking our guidebook and marking all the hotspots with his pen before flagging down a tuk tuk and organising the route with him.
The tuk tuk cost only 40p for 3 hours as it is a special valentines promotion by the government at the moment to encourage tourism. We went to various temples and saw about 50 different Buddas which was all very interesting. The only drawback was that we had to go to a gem store and a couple of suit making shops so the driver could get food vouchers for his family. Dave got offered a handmade Armani style suit in cashmere with free shirt, tie and postage home for only 98 quid. But we just didn't have that money to spend right now!
Had another lovely lunch - thai red curry and cokes for 3 quid (sorry no pound sign on this computer!) then went back to hotel where we conked out as we forgot to put the air con on properly!!
No stomach problems to report as of yet! Missing everyone already. Will write again from Chiang Mai.
