The adventures of Sarah & Brian
Here we are again.....
We've basically been driving for ever. First stop Amarillo, where we started a new tradition of getting hammered in motel rooms and watching rubbish films (or episodes of Friends - which is always on). Stopped briefly at a bizarre tourist attraction where there were 10 cadillacs buried nose down in the middle of a field.
Then drove to Dallas and stayed in Fort Worth - another motel, there are no hostels in these parts. Did some activities there, which included visiting Southfork Ranch (from Dallas for those with sieve like brains). It was a bit rubbish and the power was off so we couldn't look round the museum.
Also visited the Stockyards where we saw some real cowboys herding big assed bulls. Everyone in Texas wears a cowboy hat and calls us y'all.
Decided to brave camping to save a few pennies but it as freeeeeezing so we won't be doing that again.
We drove for 2 days to get to Memphis where we got drunk in a motel room hehe. Visited Graceland which was ace. Elvis had good taste in decor, we particularly liked blue and yellow basement room with 3 TV's in a row and a mirrored ceiling - pure class. Also saw many of his outfits - lovely white jumpsuits etc.
Started to head south after that and stopped briefly in Birmingham Alabama and visited the Institute of Civil Rights, then drove for 11 hours to Florida. Stopped once for tea at Dennys, where our waiter nearly wet himself because we were from England. He said he would pay us for some English money, so we tipped him with English coins and he ran off to show his friends.
We've been to 7 states in ten days!! Done over 6000 miles in our trusty Chevy.
Arrived in Florida yesterday. St Augustine is the oldest city in the USA and it's lovely. Loads of ye olde buildings and cobbled streets, even a Spanish fort which used to try and stop us evil people trying to take over.
Going out for some 50c (about 30p) beers tonight, reallly splashing out.
That's all for now me mateys, ahhaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr
