The adventures of Sarah & Brian
Everybody loves San Francisco. You never meet anyone who has a bad word to say about it. It is a v nice city and great to walk around, in spite of the immense hills everywhere. I tell you, I'm never going to whinge about walking up the hill by Betty's ever again. I'll just think back to the trek up to Lombard street.
We did the essential tourist things, like take about a hundred pictures of the Golden Gate bridge and go to pier 39 to see the sea lions (they're ace!).
Also went to Alcatraz and did an audio tour where you can hear the prisoners talking - v good.
Went on a hostel pub crawl which was good but obviously resulted in massive hangovers. Surprisingly Brian was in a worse state than me and actually slept for 24 HOURS!! afterwards. Ridiculous! I meanwhile wandered the streets then went for a roast dinner at the hostel.
We also watched the superbowl - the hostel got a free keg of beer in and loads of snacks. We didn't really experience much of the superbowl atmosphere though 'cos no one was American so they didn't care who won. Apart there was a quiz at half-time, at which brian won 2 shot glasses (to keep, not drink at the time) due to his outstanding knowledge of american football. Also the beer seemed to be everlasting, I was still drinking it at 3am (I outlasted Brian for once).
Also went up Colt Tower for 360 degree views of the city, but couldn't see the bridge because it was completely covered in the legendary fog.
Did lots of eating of cheap food in Chinatown and a small amount of shopping (I NEEDED a winter coat it's bloody cold).
Right well, on to the next installment...
