Life in Oz!
Linda, Isabell, Lena and I were up by 8am so we could book parasailing! We tried not to wake the guy that took Julia's place in our room but it didn't work very well. I called and tried to book us for 10am but they were full already so we settled for noon. We got ready and checked out of our room and headed to the bakery and McDonalds for breakfast. We did some shopping for a while and then headed to the Coral Reef Resort where the parasailing was through. We were all really excited to go; Isabell and Lena were the most nervous. We got to relax by the resort pool for about a half hour before they were waiting for the jet skis to come back. It was the 4 of us along with 2 friends and a couple. We all went tandem (2 people together), I went with Lena. I tiny bit nervous watching the friends go up but once they got back and said it was relaxing I couldn't wait to go. The couple went next, then Isabell and Linda and then it was our turn! It was AMAZING! Soooooo much fun!! It was very relaxing like they said. You sit in a harness and it is clipped to a bar above your head. The weather was a little cloudy but otherwise very nice. The view was great; we could see a long way and everyone looked so small below. We were about 300 feet in the air. Once we thoroughly enjoyed the view upright it was time to go upside down! It was a little difficult at first but it was easy to flip once I got the hang of it. It is a pretty good rush to be hanging upside down 300 feet over the ocean with no hands! Once our time was almost up they started to lower us back to the boat but they had to dip us in the water first. The best way to get dipped? Upside down of course! The water was really warm and felt great. he brought us back up in the air a little ways and then brought us back down to drag us in the water to make sure we got good and wet. I was hoping he would spray us with the motors like he did to Isabell and Linda but he didn't. the 10 minutes went by extremely fast but it was money well spent and I think I'm ready to bungy jump or sky dive now! We weren't done having fun yet so once we got back to shore we hired the jet skis (or as the Swedes say- yet skis). We hired them for 15 minutes and went tandem again. I drove first and my max speed was 81km/hr. We had boundaries but the ocean was our playground for 15 wonderful minutes. I drove for a while and then let Lena drive and we switched back before we had to return them. By the time we were done it was almost 2pm and we had to meet the taxi at 3:20 by the hostel. We stopped at a little Greek restaurant to get yiros (gyro) for lunch. They were super good and reminded me of the ones we always bought in Germany. We headed back to the hostel to change and were just in time to meet our taxi to the airport for a 5:05 departure. We got to the airport about 4pm. We checked in and went through security just in time; I looked at the ticketing counter a little bit later and it looked like the rest of the plane arrived at the same time. We could have sat outside in the cage to wait for the plane to arrive but we decided to stay inside in case it decided to rain again. Once the plane unloaded and refuelled we were able to board. We left a little bit late but that's nothing unusual. I slept most of the way to Brisbane, so I got a decent nap in. We decided it would be cheaper to get a taxi than to take the airbus (train) to the train station, I think we saved almost $20 between us by taking the taxi. We didn't have to wait long before the train arrived but the trip to Landsborough took about an hour which was pretty good considering it made a bunch of stops. The bus was waiting for us to take us to Uni so we were back by about 9pm. I stayed up for a while to start laundry and check my email before crashing around 11pm.
