The day I left The UK for the first time.
Firstly, some of you will probably be wondering, why would someone who has never been abroad before go to India?
The simple answer is... Why not?!
Secondly, some will wonder why I am writing a blog...
Well I predict a lot of stuff will happen on this adventure and I don't want to forget a single moment (even the bad stuff), plus I am a weird guy so...
Finally, a few people will wonder what I am doing in India...
I am on study programme where nearly 1000 UK undergraduate applied and I was one of the lucky 200 chosen to go to Mumbai for 3 weeks, to learn about the culture, language, history, food, go on a one week internship/placement and much more.
Saturday 22nd
I didn't get much sleep I woke up at 5 am and still haven't finished packing, the flight leaves at 11 and I don't have much time left.
After much screaming from my mum, I am packed and ready to leave at 07:45.
We set off for Piccadilly Circus Tube station to take the train to Heathrow Terminal 5 and get to the airport at about 09:15.
I check in, hand my baggage over and head towards the B-gates...
I am sure that tube to the gates was the nicest journey I have ever been on (all 25 secs of it)
I board the plane (BA btw! Just thought I should let you all know I like to travel in styleK) and look for my window seat...
Side note: How comes no one told me you get FREE stuff on a plane?!
If you could see the smile on my face when I got my free newspapers (The Times and Telegraph), blanket-towel thing, eye mask, socks, toothbrush and toothpaste.
That is a lot of souvenirs for people HAHA (Sorry in advance)
I settle in for the trip, the pilot gives his announcements and the attendant gestures to the exits (which looks just as stupid in real life as it does on TV)
The plane starts move; ok no big deal, the plane gets a little faster; erm is it supposed to go this fast?! The plane takes flight; Ok I am closing my eyes now. (*cough* just to check my eyelids are still working)
When I opened my eyes (eyelids working perfectly fine if you were wondering J) all I can see are clouds... I amazed I never been above the clouds before now, I guess this is one of the best bits of flying.
I watched a lot of TV whilst on the flight: Friends, Scrubs, Everybody Hates Chris, (some girl had the medulla slapped outta her oblongata HAHAHA!) and The Wire. (if you don't know about this show then you're a loser!)
I chose a movie to watch "Duplicity" which has to be one of the most stupid films I have ever seen, I feel asleep 3 times and stopped it 10 mins before the end. (yes! that's how bad it was) basically, Julia Roberts + Clive Owen + Spy film = BORING!
I make a playlist of John Legend and Michael Jackson classics and take one last look outside, we're passing over some mountain ranges and the sun is shining. I start to read my FREE newspaper ; A girl get 6 A's in her A-levels but didn't get into any of her choices. 3 songs later (literally) and in the middle of "Billie Jean" I look up and the sky is pitch black, all I can see in the horizon is the fading sunset. I guess I am not in London any more.
