I woke up to find two new roommates, they came in the middle of the night and I hardly noticed them. We all went to breakfast which was a buffet consisting of eggs, spicy sausages, fruit, toast, more eggs, ice cream and more eggs.
Breakfast over, the roommates suggest going to the Taj Mahal Hotel but, I was still drained from the flight and opted out (big mistake!) and slept for around 3 hours. I woke up and went to lunch afterwards I went with a group of people to the local market on the way there I saw a COW in the street but, I didn't get a chance to take a photo. The markets were amazing you could find almost anything you wanted and all at bargain prices. I didn't get anything. I just looked around.
We then went to the local park (OVAL) but we couldn't walk on the grass, I think it was because it was a conservation site. The heat got a bit too much and we headed back to the hotel.
My roommates had returned from the Taj Mahal Hotel and couldn't stop talking about how great it was, I missed out!
We all then planned to go to a buffet restaurant called "Meridian" with some people my roommates had met and lived downstairs, so we got dressed up and went to meet them, Introductions out of the way we headed outside and hailed a taxi. We asked the driver if they knew the restaurant but I don't think they had heard of it. So they recommended a seafood restaurant. So all of us agreed and headed to the restaurant. It was a 15 minute drive and we arrived in a seedy looking alleyway and we see a random door swing open and inside was the restaurant, nicely decorated, air conditioned and the smell of good food was in the air. We sat down and began to order, I ordered the: Prawn Schechuan Rice and Chicken Tikka. Our food arrived 20 mins later after talk of politics and weather and economy we began to eat, a few of my roommates couldn't handle the spice of the food and their faces changed colours. J After eating to our hearts content, we had a lot of food left over, so I the spirit of not being wasteful we asked the manager if we could take the food in 'doggy bags' then one of the women we were dining with suggested that find a homeless family and give over the food we couldn't finished, we were all more than happy to do that. We found a little girl wondering around and we asked were her mother was, (we had a fluent Hindi speaker) we found her family sleeping on the crossroads and handed them the food. It was amazing to see how happy it made them to get something I considered very small. As we walked of I noticed the Grandmother (I am guessing) saying something to the little girl, she then went to pick up her tiny sibling and carried him over to us and she gestured for us to give her money, she seemed like she was trained this way as if she knew that showing the baby would make us feel worse and hand over money, but we realised they were taking advantage and took a taxi to avoid any confrontation.
We stopped at a Shisha bar and met a few others from our course who were on their way out, since I am not a fan of shisha I offered t walk back with the others to the hotel. I said goodnight to my roommates and headed out to the night, after a few mins of dodging crazy taxis and taking back alley routes we got back to our rooms and got some well deserved sleep.
