Saturday in New York
Yay for New York! Was a bit of a sleep in this morning the room at the pod was quite dark and we didn't realise how late it was. We got ready for the day & headed down to the pod breakfast area for the $4 Bagel & coffee deal. My first bagel of the trip. It was pretty good but the best thing was it was something to get the day started. It's tough not knowing where to go for something to eat in the mornings so it made for a good start to the day.
We headed down to Times Square which wasn't so busy. we wandered into Toys 'r' us - the largest toy store in the world i think she said. They have their own Big Wheel inside the shop and 3 storeys where employees get to fly helicopters & remote control cars around. tough gig working there!
After the toy store we went on to Bryant Park it's a lovely park with lots of chairs & tables to sit at as well as a field in the middle which turns into a skating rink in the winter and also has a pony carousel for kids.
There was plenty of hagglers for the open top bus tours so we decided to buy a ticket. Came time to get on and there was no room on the bus. Ripped again. It was a 72 hour tour but we weren't going to spend the time waiting for another bus so we kept on walking.
Around 1pm we decided on a stop for lunch as we had walked a fair few blocks. We landed at the Latitude bar & grill which had super cheap drinks, nice lunch and the usual baseball and hockey was on the tv.
After lunch off to Central Park. It was a real buzz of activity. There were people everywhere and not 10 metres of space. We decided to sit by and watch the people go about their day at the park. There were a few fields of softball games underway, walkers, riders and plenty of munchkins.
When we arrived home later the news reporter even mentioned how there were soooo many people at the park enjoying the fantastic weather. I guess we have been very lucky with the timing of our trip.
