I seem to be collecting mosquito bites... I get maybe two or three new ones a day and they just don't get away so my legs now look like a war zone.... and they're so itchy! argh

On wednesday night we went to a rather different bar to the ones we'd seen before. This was mostly used by Filippino men and was much dirtier, seedier.... we saw and killed a cockroach in there! urgh! and apparently they like to bite people on their faces while they're sleeping! took me a while to go to sleep that night esp. cos we found one in the shelter.....

anyway the bar was very quiet - only about 5 customers and us. There was only one girl on stage at a time and they had to do three dances each getting more and more provocative each time. Their third dance was pretty much nudity which is illegal in this country. And still that isn't the worst that goes on here....

there was recently an article in 'the people' tabloid about the three men in charge of the sex bar trade around here - its written in a pretty tabloidy way but its good that Angeles is getting publicity. Here's an excerpt:

"The disgusting trio lives like latter-day sultans, ruling the roost over Angeles and growing rich from the swarms of impoverished youngsters, some still children, who flock to the town for work.

The town's main industry is prostitution and in its 100 girlie bars a dancer can be bought for as little as £10 for the night simply by handling over a bar "fine" to the resident pimp.

Virgins or "cherry girls" as they are known fetch premium rates but even that is less than the price of a good hotel room."

Yesterday we went back to Pampang to sort out a guys loan (i wrote the contract! hehe quite proud of that) and to talk to the parents of some of the scholars. I took some photos there which i'll upload when i get the chance.

my lesson this morning went well - had full attendance which meant I could work out where they all were. I'm testing them on monday so I'll know whether they learnt anything at all.... that module was boring - on sponges and jellyfish! how dull can you get? the next is on viruses and bacteria which is far more interesting.
