Well its been a few days since i wrote. Things are bcoming slightly more routine for us... except there aren't many normal days here!
Today we did our first scholars class. Some at-risk girls come once a week for a session. They are chosen on grounds of how likely they are to be taken into prostitution - e.g. size of family, single parent, history of abuse.... They are given some money and supported by the foundation. There is a condition on the scholarship that they try hard at school and pass their exams. It went really well and i think the girls enjoyed it a lot. It was a shorter session than normal today though - we have them for the full day on saturday.
The shelter is filling up quite fast at the moment. We've increased our capacity from 8 to 12. There's two girls who came in this week from a trafficking situtation, another woman with children coming soon and possibly a few others.
Next wekk we're going to be given some paperwork and i think our routine for the next 4 weeks will come into place more. We've only just got over our jet-lag so it was nice to have a slightly easier week. The livelihood work starts again this week too - the card making and jewellery. The women make things for the charity to sell and they get paid a fair wage for each item they make. I'll be bringing some stuff back with me so get your wallets ready!! hehe
anyway i have to teach biology and english tomorrow so better prepare.
hope everyone is well.
