We have had a very eventful weekend.
Yesterday Hank the puppy was attacked by one of the other dogs whilst another volunteer was getting him out of his cage. He was shook very badly but luckily the attacking dog had no teeth. He writhed and screamed for about 15 minutes in shock and pain. I comforted him as best I could and he slowly calmed down. But it took until the next morning for him to stop intermittently screaming when he moved. Today he is looking much better. He's a bit wobbly on his feet due to a bit of bruising but no permanent damage has been done. He's still eating like a trooper!
Sadly Rocky died today. He seemed to have a deformity in his digestive system which was leading to a partial rectal prolapse which made his tummy very sore so he didn't want to eat. At least he is not in any pain anymore.
His sister Grace is doing really well. She's a greedy little thing!
Yesterday Ted the dog paralysed in a car accident last week collapsed due to dehydration from internal bleeding. We gave him an IV drip and I cuddled him and he slowly came back round and was scoffing biscuits by the end of the day. He is very depressed because of his new disability and he has road rash all over his legs, some of which had become infected. He's also damaged his right elbow. I gave him a bath as he was peeing all over himself. He is going to need lots of love over the next few days, which I am more the willing to provide! He's such a cute dog! (Case 36)
Today we've had a day off from the sanctuary and gone on a horse safari! We went to a lovely ranch in the hills and rode Marwari horses ( a breed native t Rajasthan ). It was amazing and peaceful. We rode through some beautiful countryside. Our friend has had the puppies for a day and we will collect them from her tonight when we go out for a meal.
