The last coupe of days have been really great. All the dogs are healing really well. The best way to keep up with the cases is to go through my photos and look at the case numbers then you can see the recovery right in front of you!
The reason that many of these dogs don't get the operations they would normally have in the UK is because the sanctuary doesn't really have the drugs or the facilities. They send some of the really bad ones (like the dog with the tumour on its eye and the dog with the mangled foot) to the government veterinary hospital but they are more like butchers than vets. Then don't suture up the wounds and will only take off as much of the limb as they can be bothered ( for example the dog with the mangled paw will probably come back with an amputation just above the wrist) they don't seem to understand that if you leave the majority of the leg there then it's just dead weight for the dog to carry around. However for the moment it's the best the sanctuary can do. But there have been many cases that would've needed surgery in the UK that have healed just fine without it. Luckily the centre can give the care and time needed for the big wounds to heal.
We've been out for some lovely meals. The city looks beautiful at night especially when your restaurant overlooks the lake!
As you can see from the photo on this blog, Rusty is doing really well! She is such a gorgeous girl and I wish she could come home with me (well, I wish a lot of them could!)
