Today was really good! We only stayed till 1pm so we could explore Udaipur a bit.
We had lots of new cases, including a gorgeous young female dog that I have nicknamed Blondie. We're not quite sure what happened to her but she is totally missing the 2 middle toes from hear front right leg. The wound is very sore but she was good as gold when we cleaned it. Hopefully it will heal over nicely - obviously in the UK we would remove the remnants of the toes but here it isn't an option. It's not infected which is a really good sign!
Rusty the nervous dog is coming on leaps and bounds. I spent another hour with her and by the end of the session I was stroking her head! So considering she wouldn't let me touch her yesterday she is doing really well!
We had a couple of emergencies yesterday. The dog with deep wound down to her skull (now called Honey Bear) hadn't eaten in 24 hours and was very weak so we put her on a drip. Also, one of the other dogs that is a mange recovery case collapsed from hypothermia. She was put under lots of blankets with a hot water bottle and put on a drip, after 2 hours she was sitting up and looking much better.
When we got back from the centre we went for a walk around Udaipur and went to the Jagdish Temple which was beautiful. We then went for a walk along the lake shore to look at some of the restaurants and stopped at a nice cafe for an iced tea. On the way back we stopped at got a henna from the lovely lady across the road from our hotel.
So we have managed to do some tourist stuff. Tomorrow we are off to the lake palace!
