The trip was going to be a short journey, left the campsite, lunch in Nimes and then to Avignon. We set off having explained this to the children, and headed in to Nimes, described in the guide books as being very similar to Rome (Seven Hills, Roman Remains, but not in Italy). The draw back we discovered was a complete lack of parking that we determined to be suitable for Motorhomes, so having done a loop of the Arena (Roman Ampitheatre, which again the guidebooks say is more complete than the collasium in Rome), we headed out of Nimes and down the road to Avignon and our campsite in the Villeneuve Lez Avignon (just across the Rhone from Avignon. Apparantly this is where the Cardinals setup home when the Pope and the rest of the Vatican moved from Rome to France for a few years.
Having parked up, had lunch and let the kids play on the playground for sometime, we walked into Villeneuve and had a snack in the town square before returning back to the campsite to have the evening meal. The entertainment following the meal was for us to all go down to the skateboard park for Day 1 of learning how to skateboard. Only injury of the day was David with some gravel rash to the leg.
