Our last full day in Rome. Our aim today is to try and see the things we want to but haven't yet seen and get some souvenirs.
We have nothing planned just do as we please.
Well..... we walked the streets of Rome scouring every laneway, sidestreet and market between Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon and several bits either side. We found things for everyone well at least we think we did - what did we get - well you will have to wait.
We have had a wonderful time in Rome and decided to finish with dinner at our favourite trattoria - which we did and had a wonderful meal under the stars with people strolling by piano accordions playing all around us (Trenna very conscious not to pay to much obvious attention for fear of being asked for money - it is actually quite funny watching her deal with the dilemma of appreciating the music/entertainment and the scoffs from me when they ask her for a 'contribution').
Just as I thought she had it mastered a guy comes through selling roses. We (or should I say me) say no but he starts chatting (to Trenna). He comes from Bangladesh and has been here 19 years and after a few more pleasantries says to Trenna 'here have a rose on me' and gives her about 5 long stem roses (some white, some red). To me they looked a bit wilted but Trenna thought they were lovely. I asked her what she was going to do with them since we were flying out tomorrow and she said 'no idea, maybe give them to the hotel staff'. Then our flower guy says to me 'what about you give me a bit of money for the lovely flowers'. Conned again!!!!!! But hey you're not in Rome every day. Those free roses ended up costing about 20 euros.
We finished our meal and strolled home very happy but a bit sad about leaving Rome yet excited about the next part of our adventure.
