Hi everyone,
we are in the internet cafe this morning because we were planning on going swimming but it is cold, grey and drizzling. We are going to go to the orphanage this afternoon but there is not much point now as all of the kiddies are at school. Yesterday we were at the Clinic in the morning and at the orphanage in the afternoon; we took them lollies, which made us very popular!
There is a new girl at the orphanage called Catherine; she was found in a well a few days ago and brought to the orphanage. She is having a bit of trouble settling in (hardly surprising) but seems to really like me and Charlotte. I hope we don't cause yet another upheavel when we leave next week. She is just the sort of child that people end up taking home, it seems so unfair that life can be so cruel to someone so small (she is about 5) and she would have a much better life if she was adopted by an English person. Another sad story is that the baby that was taken into hospital last week (I think I mentioned him?) apparently died the next day. We only found out yesterday; nobody seemed particularly interested so maybe that is the norm around here. I don't know.
Charlotte is feeling slightly ill today, I hope it is nothing serious. My cold is much better, the drugs I was given were very good. We are leaving Hoima on Tuesday and spending a night in a place called Masindi and then two nights at a place called Murchison, which has a big waterfall (part of the Nile I believe) and we are going on a boat trip there and also a safari. It is quite hard to plan anything except accomodation in advance so I hope it all works out ok. We are then going back down south to a hotel between Entebbe and Kampala and we have organised a day's white water rafting from there. And then after that we are coming home. It is all going so quickly! I can see why people want to come again having been here once, it is all so different and exciting and the people are so friendly. It is also very satisfying when the very small things that we can do while we are here actually seem to make a bit of a difference.
Right, time is running out so I will stop yabbering on. I will be back on again tomorrow or the next day no doubt though.
Lots and lots of love me xxxxx
