Hello tout le monde! We are now safely in Hoima where we are staying for the next 2 weeks. We are staying with a Vicar called John who is very nice.We should not have too many problems because he prays to God about just about everything for us?
We went to a morning service as the diocese offices this morning at 8.30 and then spent most of the day at the Asur Clinic, which is basically a little hospital. We rolled cotton wool into balls and did all of the filing for them. They gave us lunch with all of the other staff, which was traditional Ugandan fare.We are back there tomorrow too.We are hoping to go and introduce ourselves at the Mustard Seed Orphanage later this afternoon and then probably start helping out there too.
Everyone is incredibly friendly here; they have nothing themselves but go out of their way to help us.Everyone and everything smells of poverty, in many ways it reminds me of Nepal.
There was a sign on the bus up here saying "Be Human.Act Human.Stop child sacrifice."I found that slightly disturbing! We have been told not to go out on our own after dark but that it is generally quite safe here. One of the two boys we are going on safari with has got malaria though, so we are being extra carefully with insect repellent and mosquito nets?
These computers are a bit too backwards to get photos up on at the moment but I will try to sort something out.I don't have much more news but I will try to get back online within the next couple of days.
Much love, Rosie xxxxx
