Hello everybody,
I hope all is well at home.I am pleased to report that it is now hot and sunny here after a few quite cool days with rain storms.Yesterday morning we went to the district hospital and helped the nurses to clean the wards? MRSA is the least of their worries! We were basically scrubbing all of the walls, shelves and doors in the ward. Most people in hospital either have malaria or have had a motorbike accident as far as we can work out.We then spent yesterday afternoon helping out with the laundry and sewing up rips in school uniforms at the orphanage. We had another long powercut last night so it was an early night.
Today we were at the Azur Clinic.I was helping with some admin and then helping with the babies' immunizations in the morning.Charlie was off in the ambulance visiting outlying villages and giving them vitamins and family planning gear.I hope that I will have a chance to do that at some point too because it sounded really interesting - there was only space for one of us to go though. This afternoon we were packing pills, which is pretty tedious and time consuming, but takes some of the load off the very busy staff at the clinic.
We have just been to the market and bought a load of veg - we are cooking the Johns a stir-fry for supper because they don't eat any vegetables because they do not know how to cook them?We bought green peppers, aubergine, peas, garlic, ginger and carrots so I think we will just throw the whole lot in a pan and hope for the best.
I can't think of any more news right now but hopefully I will be back on again tomorrow. We are happy and healthy and having a good time so that is all that matters really.
Lots and lots of love me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
