Got up at 8 this morning but didn't sleep much as we watched the lightning show until the early hours.

Got ourselves ready and walked to Ipanema beach and the Hippie Market, which was hard work as it was already 40 degrees. Did lots of prezzie shopping and came back for a siesta in the hotel.

When we woke we went for a swim in the pool and it started to rain, so we decided to go for a walk along the beach. We think the staff at the hotel think we are a bit mad but who cares.

The sky suddenly turned black and surprise, surprise we had another lightning show which is still in full swing now after 5 hours.

The temperature is still in the high 30's.

Had to sort our packing out as it's our last night here and don't envy the baggage men tomorrow trying to lift them off the ground.

All in all it has been a brilliant holiday, seen some fantastic sights and met some lovely people.
