Had a lie in today until 7.30 and went for a leisurely breakfast. Went to find a post office so that Jackie could buy some Brazilian stamps and went back to the hotel to check out, which had to be done by 12 even though we weren't being picked up until 4. Decided to go for a stroll on Copacabana beach, called off for dinner at a cafe and after looking at the menu, thought we had it sussed..... wrong again. How can a cheeseburger and club sandwich go so wrong. ...

Got up at 8 this morning but didn't sleep much as we watched the lightning show until the early hours. Got ourselves ready and walked to Ipanema beach and the Hippie Market, which was hard work as it was already 40 degrees. Did lots of prezzie shopping and came back for a siesta in the hotel. Got alarm call at 4.45 but snoozed a little and got up at 5.20 leaving us 10 minutes to get ready before being picked up.
