Gonna mark this day for Bowie XXX

Got up at 6.30 this morning and went for breakfast, which was a success. Waiting for excersion coach to arrive which was late - not impressed. Finally when it arrived we went through the favalas on our way for Corcavado where the big JC is., ok so you may know it as the Christ the Redeemer but to us it's the big JC.

Queued for the tram up the mountain side in 34 degree heat, got to top, had to then walk up 5 flights of stairs and the big JC had scaffolding around him. Brill views all the way round although it was absolutley chocker, but definately worth the visit.

Got back on the coach, both fell asleep and woke up at what looked like a water tower to be told it was a cathedral. Nice stained glass windows but nowhere to light candles.

Yet again back on the coach, heading for Sugar Loaf Mountain. I thought that Jackie was joking about not coming to the top but the look on her face confirmed she wasn't messing about. She looked a little apprehensive and was a few shades whiter than white, in other words there was no way that i could change her mind and force her to get on.

I went to the top while Jackie kept her feet firmly on the ground and had a few cups of coffee and a few cigs. I don't want you thinking that she is scared of heights it's just the cable cars, she has been up loads but today just wasn't the day - alot going on in her mind.

The cable car ride was in 2 bits, first to the small mountain and the second to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, the views of surrounding Rio were breathtaking and JC could be seen from here.

After seeing Sugar Loaf Mountain in sunset, I came back down to meet up with Jackie and show her the photos.

Got back on the bus to our hotel and a lightning storm started, got changed and went to tea the food was brilliant and all the while we had a sky show which has now lasted 7 hours with all the car alarms going off. The thunder sounds as if we are in a war zone and we are sat in our room with the lights off watching it. It is amazing and scary at the same time as the fork lightning is getting closer.

Don't know what time we will get go sleep as we keep doing the monkey impression "ooh ooh ooh" at the lightning.
