Another early start for the intrepid travellers. First up was a hilly 7-km ride to the Dong Nguoi Xua 'caves of prehistoric man'. They are said to be 7,500 years old. The cave was excavated in 1966 by the the Institute of Archaeologists of Vietnam with the assistance of German experts where they found stone axes, cutting stones, animal bones, shells, and three ancient tombs with intact fossil skeletons. She was a very steep and very slippery climb up the mountain but everyone survived intact.
The same can't be said for the cycle to the caves. Our original cycle stacker managed to score her second fall of the trip when she careered down the embankment running alongside the creek bed. A great spectacle with a very dignified landing. Maybe an 8 out of 10. A little bark off the left knee but back on the bike in no time at all.
We then rode out of the park and ~40km's east toward Hai Phong City - Vietnam's third largest City behind Saigon and Hanoi. No rain to speak of. Yay!
