Sunday 14 January 2007 - Hunter Valley
Early Sunday start to be picked up from Circular Quay for our trip to Hunter Valley, meeting up with a hungover Duncan. Took about 2 hours to get to our first stop - Iron Gate, making it a more respectable time to be taking our first taste of wine for the day! Tasted about 6 different wines helping Duncan to come into the land of the living!
Brent, the tour guide, eager to remind us to hold the glass by the stem. We soon became his least favourite people when it came apparent after the 3rd or 4th winery that we were not going to be purchasing lots of wine - 'Can you believe some people just come to Hunter Valley to sample the wine and get drunk and not have any intention of buying the wine' - Sorry Brent, goon is about all we can afford!
Our free time over lunch we made it to 2 more winerys and some cheese tasting too - opted out of a boomerang trowing lesson by Brent.
Drove to Ernest Hill, the 2006 award winners for their chardoney. More wine tasting, although the measures were getting smaller for us - thanks to Brent! Back to Sydney and met up with Roz (one of Rita's old work mates) in the Star Bar..... for a glass of wine!
