Yes we slept from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock the following morning. Got up went to 'family mart' (Japanese Spar or Costcutter) to get a drink, got back had a shower then headed out for the day. Got the tube to Tokyo (yes we were in Tokyo but that was a tube stop) to see the palace where the king and queen live. Was nice but closed to the public as it was a bank holiday. Then headed to find a temple, got there and bloody hell it was busy like Oxford street on Christmas eve. There was no way we were queuing for that long so went off in search of food. We weren't quite brave enough still to go in a proper restaurant so found a vending machine one like the day before and just guessed as to what we had ordered, was delicious but as we hadn't seen a fork we had to master the old chop sticks or go hungry. After eating we had a walk and found a ruddy big tower (539 meters tall). Then got to a different temple, this was nice and the locals knew what to do before entering the temple - some crazy, drink, spit, wash hands stuff. We did not know what was going on so headed back to the hotel. On the way back we went back to 'family mart' and got something sweet (the rule was you weren't allowed to know what you were buying). I got something that was brown and looked like chocolate and Sarah got some little strawberry sweets. In the room we opened our sweets, mine was indeed Japanese chocolate and quite pleasant, Sarah on the other hand learned that just because it was red it didn't mean it was strawberry - it was a fish flavored chewy thing and they were rank!!! Both of us spat them out.
We went to the electric city which was pretty incredible skyscrapers in all the colors of the rainbow and people everywhere. Very exciting. Also there was a dodgy looking adult shop which I was forbidden to go in. I was hungry, Sarah wasn't, we looked at every street stall to find me something but I resorted to buying a mystery sandwich from...'family mart' turns out it was tuna and egg (not so adventurous) and also bought a packet of biscuits and between Sarah and I they didn't last very long at all. We also tried to find two temples... which we did however they were both closed for bank holiday. We got back to the room and stayed up on Skype and looking at photo's until 10 o'clock!

Sarah We tried to find our way back to the hotel (walking to avoid spending more than 50 a day!) by working out which way the cranes on the tower were facing! Genius! At the busy Temple i made you stand in front of the big lampshade thing to make it look like it was on your head - it did not work! We went back when we returned to Tokyo to do it all again!
