Hi all!!
Well I'm on blog number two and thought I'd give a quick update on my first few days in La Rosiere!! I left Les Deux Alpes on Tueday at 9am and after a 3/4 hour journey to Bourg St Maurice I had to wait for another 6 hours whilst our minbuses took the other reps to La Plagne and Les Arcs.....unfortunately we were last in the shuttle process so I spent a few hours outside the train station (La Gare...amazing French I know!) and a few inside mcdonalds as it got a little colder!!
However, it was worth it when I arrived in our chalet where I'll be based for the season. I'll be living with 4 chalet hosts; Peter, Jack, Stephanie and Ross who are all awesome and think we'll have a great time - they're even cooking for me which is a real bonus! We're in an amazing chalet, a former restaurant, with loads and loads of room and stunning views over the valleys and other mountains (see my photos...sorry i went overboard on the scenic shots!).
Anyway, the last couple of days I've spent meeting the ski schools (ESF), Tourist Info centre, ski equipment shops, all of our accommodation units etc and lots of people too including other reps so has been a good start although half the time I'm guessing what I'm meant to be doing but I'm sure it will all fall in to place!
So it's been pretty busy, the forest walk from La Rosiere to Les Eucherts is over 1km and I've been doing it quite a few times a day there and back getting to know the resort and speaking to chalet owners so that will keep me fit. There's some snow but I'm praying for more (forecasted on Sunday) and can't wait to get on the mountain as I haven't managed to get my skis on here yet. The resort officially opens on Saturday although the Italian side of La Thuille will remain closed due to lack of snow at the moment.
I've managed to sample the odd beer in order to get to know the local bar owners and establish some deals (all part of the job of course!) which has been good. In fact I'm writing this from a bar called Fusion in the town centre so if this doesn't make much sense...tough!
That's it for now, I could go on for ages but I'm being anti-social...you understand....beer o'clock!!
