We arrived in cape town yesterday at half past 9 after an 11 and a half hour flight. When we landed it was still 17 degrees which I was happy about. After all of the immigration malarky and the filling out of forms etc we went to get picked up by our car which took us to somerset west. Needless to say that after waking up at 2am that morning we all fell asleep quite quickly.
Today has mainly been for unpacking but we did bravely venture into the village that we're staying in. It takes a while to get used to the people who come up to you at traffic lights asking for money and the people who follow you to your car at car parks also looking for spare change. Im also still trying to get used to the exchange rate; its R14 to one pound and it was weird handing over a R5O note for 2 birthday cards and not getting any change.
I've fallen in love with the accent here and the scenery; where we staying is surrounded by mountains. Im also learning a bit of afrikaans.
Im sure the updates will get more interesting, todays just been for relaxing and getting used to the place.
