We got up early this morning to drive to Glencairn where I got ready for my dive, all looked hopeful when the sun was shining when we arrived. I went through the usual process of finding a wet suit that fitted me and getting debriefed about what we'd be doing in the sea. I also met Phil (my instructor) who used to live in Falmouth, and the other guy who I was diving with. After much paperwork we drove down to Long Beach where I changed into my kit (with my oceanic mask of course) when we were all ready we headed for the sea.
Literally as soon as we walked towards the sea the weather started to get more and more windy but we decided to go ahead anyway. I managed to kneel on the sand under water and saw a few fishes and the water was actually really warm, but after a while the current grew too strong and I decided to admit defeat. Im planning to do another sometime later in the week if the weather looks up though.
After I got out of the water I dried off and we headed for a little restaurant by the sea where we ate THE most gorgeous pancakes - honey, banana, cream and roasted almonds.
After we were all fed and refreshed we quickly had a look around a toy museum (where I recognised a lot of toys from ones that both grandparents have at their houses). By the time we got out of there it was raining again and we decided to head to drive to V & A Waterfront where we saw the aquarium that we will visit later in the week. We also went to an arts and craft market.
The drive home was eventful, Cape Town rush hour is crazy. People were pulling infront of us and beeping horns all over the place. But we eventually got there and then we were allowed to just sit down and relax.
