Had a more leisurely start today as we had no set activities. Wandered into breakfast which was the usual magnificent buffet that all the hotels we have stayed at provide. Somehow I just can't eat noodles or rice for breakfast though and museli, fruit, yoghurt, toast and an egg are much more enjoyable. After breakfast we went for a walk down the road by the river where the locals live. As always, lots of happy smiles from the local people busy sweeping their rubbish into piles before setting fire to it. Every morning we have noticed a lot of smoke in the air even though the days have been clear. This is possibly the reason. They also send offerings to the 'gods' and coloured paper is often burnt. Lisa went off on a shopping trip alone and I repacked my suitcase and generally did nothing. She returned with a few 'bargains' and we checked out and caught a taxi to our last hotel, the Boutique Hoi An Resort which is located on the beach about 5 km from the Riverside Hotel. After doing a walk around the resort we finally settled, like a couple of beached whales, near the beach bar and had some beers and lunch. This was a bit pricey for us at about VND 850,000 so we won't eat there again. Took the free shuttle back into the old town of Hoi An later and found a cheap restaurant for dinner followed by a rickshaw ride around the town. The drivers were only slightly built chaps and we were concerned how they would go peddling our holiday enlarged bodies but they managed it somehow. Back on the shuttle for the 15 minute return trip to the resort before a Cointreau next to the pool in the warm evening air.
