The boat was absolutely flat on the water overnight and we slept really well. Managed to avoid Thi Chi on the top deck at 6.00am by pretending to be asleep, although some of the participants reported enjoying the experience! I enjoyed the experience of sleeping! We did manage to get to breakfast by 7.00AM and then onto the tender for a trip to a cave known locally as Surprise Cave although the Vietnamese name was quite a bit more involved! Steep steps up to it but quite large inside. No delicate formations that we are used to in caves as I suspect in its past it may not have been treated as carefully as our caves are treated. Lots of coloured lighting too. Back on the boat and lunch was served at 10:15am as the cleaners were preparing our room for the next group to board. It did seem a little early for lunch as I hadn't quite got the taste of breakfast out of my mouth yet! Motored back to the harbour and the bus once again. Tried to avoid the seat where hip dislocation was a possibility and got a window seat on the right for the 4 hours back to Hanoi. Stopped at the 2 hr mark at a craft for the disabled factory/showroom and bought a few nice things. Got to Hanoi on rush hour but actually every minute of the day seems like rush hour in Hanoi! Checked into the hotel once again and went the Green Mango restaurant for dinner. Still no decent wine! After dinner we went to the Water Puppet show which was quite good although all the speech was in Vietnamese so we didn't have a clue about what was going on. The musicians were good with one of them playing a 1 string harp which was interesting. It was also quite hot in there so it was with much relief when it ended and we could get back outside. We then went for a stroll around the lake nearby dodging the traffic every time we needed to cross the street before returning to our hotel and a drink at the top floor bar before turning in.
