Monday - Sunny
B&B was very quiet this morning, except I think the workers were having a bit of a domestic. We had our breakfast and then caught the metro to Milan central station. It's a very big and grand station too, with large beautiful mosaics on the walls.
When we found the right platform, our train was ready to board, and unfortunately we had a seat in a cabin. I hate the cabins! Especially when it's full. Which it happened to be, plus one kid with no seat. I hate how you have to sit in a small room with randoms facing each other for however long the train trip is.
Our trip was a little over 3 hours, but it went pretty quick. I left our cabin for about an hour and walked the other carriages, because the German couple started to peel boiled eggs for lunch. Smelly!
We had to change trains onto a local train at Sestri Levante, and we only just made it. The train was already on the platform. The short trip to Framura was very nice the train line follows the ocean and along the cliffs and through tunnels.
Framura station is right on the water, and from there we had to walk straight up a hill for an hour to get to our caravan park, that's right we were staying in a caravan for the next four nights. The 3.5km walk did give us amazing views of the coastline and took us through nice sleepy villages and farms, with olive trees, grape vines and tasty looking tomatoes! Two of the staircases must of had about 1000 steps combined. We were sweating pretty hard in the lovely 28°C sun, with 20kg packs on our backs, as well as small backpacks on our front!
The caravan park is definitely easiest accessed by car, and it was a bit demoralizing to have walked 3kms straight up, only to have to travel back downhill 3-4 hairpins to get there.
Once at the park, we had free range of the place, and naturally we picked the caravan with the best view of the coast from the deck. We went up to the camp market and bought some dinner and drinks.
After a break we walked down through the beautiful town down to the beach for a swim. What a swim it was. The water was so clear and warm, the beach was empty as well as the sun setting. Perfect!
On the walk back up we had a break on a bench and watched sunset. Then stopped at a local store and picked up a few more nibblies and drinks, that were a fair bit cheaper than the caro park shop.
Once home Kim cooked up delicious tuna pesto pasta on our gas BBQ, and we had some local wine to go with it.
