China&Peru 2006
Friday the 4th August-
Went to Ozone during the night. Not as busy as last time but still had a laugh. Beer less than a pound a bottle!
Sat- Fairly relaxed day, went to the cinema in the evening with a couple of friends we met in the club last night. Decided to go clubbing again after. Had a beer and after chatting to a guy behind the bar, we managed to wangle free tickets to a club we wanted to go to for that evening.
From Atica, we moved onto Ozone again to pass the early hours of the morning.
Monday 7th-Friday 11th.
Teaching "exercise" to the kids most of the week. Were given a few mats and asked to teach them to do roly polies and rolls on their sides. Fairly basic but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Also got asked to teach the 5 yr olds colours (in English). However, this was forgotten as soon as it was said and we taught no english whatsoever this week. We went along to the plaza de armas on Friday afternoon and chilled for a while. Did nothing in the night, Matt was in bed by half 8.....
Saturday 12th- Paid homage once again to the clubbing gods by visiting Ozone. After "making friends" with some visiting US Army troops, Matt and I were approached by a psychotic native. After 5 minutes of repeated rejection (gentle, of course), it became clear that she was not getting the hint; so Matt told her that we were about to leave to get something to eat. Her reply to this was, and I quote, "I dont like blacks". Quite how this was a necessary, or indeed relevant comment, I will never know. Her subsequent explanation that "they are sarcastic, I dont like sarcasm" prompted us to animatedly persuade her that we were the most sarcastic people she would ever meet (probably not far from the truth at times), and swiftly make for the exit.
Once Matt had polished off chicken bruschettes (got a feeling ive spelt that incorrectly) at 2 in the morning, we entered the club a second time. When it failed to become particularly lively, we decided to cut our losses and head home for the night. William the father locked the inner lock on the front door, so I had to scale the wall once again and run across the roof and down the back stairs in order to avoid ringing the door bell at half 3 in morning- not sure why I bothered because they all seem to be awake when we come in anyway!
Sunday- Took it easy, today's highlight being Matt and I enjoying a very cold afternoon beer on the roof in the plentiful sunshine.
Monday 14th- Penultimate day with the kids!
One of the children's mums who works in the kitchen told us that her son, Marvin, had been crying at home because he didn't want us to leave!! Such a cute kid, has turned into a bit of a fairy recently though, crys at the drop of a hat now!!
