China&Peru 2006
Dear all, I just wrote this entire journal entry, only for it to be deleted, in one fell swoop, by the worthless piece of junk that I am currently typing on. For this reason, please excuse me if this entry seems a little brief as a result.....
Mon 3rd-
Following an action packed ride in a tricycle cab to the harbour, we boated our way over Lake titcaca to Taquile Island. Following a mind blowingly tiring march up the hillside (at around 4000m above sea level the altitude is still having an effect) we lunched just off the central plaza and took a boat to Amananti Island where we met our host families, played footie against the locals and, after a simple but delicious dinner, we met in the town hall for some traditional Island dancing lessons. As matt put it, the dancing here is best described as a woman that closely resembles obelix ¨trying to pull your arms out of their sockets¨.
Tues 4th July-
Awoken by the smell of fresh pancakes for breakfast, we boarded a boat again bound for the Uros floating reed Islands. As the title suggests, these are man made islands constructed completely of reeds growing in the lake (its kind of a Ronseal thing).
We lunched on locally produced bead rolls (delicious stuff) and fillings before arriving back in Puno with a free afternoon to do as we wish.
