8th May 2006 - Day 38
As I write this the cool breeze brushes past and the sound of the waves crash on the white sand below our new beach hut. Moved places today as our room was already booked up - we could either stay in a room at the back with no beach view or move elsewhere - we chose to move!!! Found a proper wooden hut right on the beach which is up on stilts but a bit wobbly. Spent the day relaxing again on the beach - decided to wash entire wardrobe before we head off to Hong Kong (definately needs a proper machine wash)
9th May 2006 - Day 39
Spent the day strolling around the beach - walked to one end of the beach through a shallow river to a more secluded beach. Decided to make sand animals - was quite proud of my attempt at a fish, when Paul pulls out all the stops and creates a shark - which i have to admit was very good!!! Spoke to a guy from Liverpool called Mark - he's been in India for 3 months following the cricket (although i don't know why - how boring!!) Seems like everyone in Goa is just sitting around relaxing - thats the thing about this place everyone comes and never wants to leave!!! Shame we have our flights to catch.
10th May 2006 - Day 40
Decided to walk to the beach along from our beach to Patnem beach which is more secluded and deserted than Palolem and very beautiful, although most of the beach huts are closed down and only 2 restaurants were open. Chilled in the shade reading our books and sipping cool drinks. The sea here was rougher than Palolem and the waves were very high, a local women told us that the weather is changing for the monsoon making the sea and wind stronger. Bearung this in mind Paul managed to lose his glasses in the sea - then spent about half an hour trying to recover them - as if!!! Luckily he had two pairs otherwise he would be walking around blind for the next year.
11th May 2006 - Day 41
Spent another day chlling on the beach. Saw a local drunk walking around on the beach in a new yellow t-shirt, some do gooder must have bought him, i thought bless!!! Until i realised that he was using a lit cigarette to burn hole marks in his new t-shirt - probably to make him look more trampy and down trodden!!! Finished off our last night in Palolem eating Lobster and chips which were yummy!!!!
12th May 2006 - Day 42
Moved onto Margoa to catch the train to Mumbai tomorrow - not a very exciting day.
13th May 2006 - Day 43
Last day in India. Sitting in train station internet cafe waiting for our train to Mumbai. Last diary entry from India. Summed up in 5 words, impressive, intense, multifaceted, tiring and amazing all in one go - well worth a visit!!!!
