The day before yesterday, I hopped on a cable car to take me over the rainforest and into Kuranda.
The cable car or SkyRail as it wants to be known is quite a picturesque ride and allows you to see just how vast this forest landscape really is. But at the end of the day, the green gets a little repetitive...
Kuranda itself was a let down. It's a good job we didn't get our butts outta bed and into the car before midday. Add onto that, I'd driven half-way to Kuranda on a winding mountain road before realising we had gone past the Skyrail about 15Km's back.
This left us about an hour in Kuranda itself after the 50 min cable car ride to get us over there.
A few markets, shops and very tacky Cafe's later and I'd had enough...
On the way back, we'd chosen to take the scenic railway. The traditional style locomotive and carriages were a pleasent surprise and on the whole, the train ride back was worth it. Stopping at a few stations along the way and going though historic tunnels that were built back in the day, the hour & 45min journey seemed to fly by. There are also some truly spectacular views to witness.
Kuranda and all that came with it was dissapointing. But I feel it was all worth it just for the scenic railway journey.
At the moment, we've left Gilligans Hostel after having my last night of proper sleep in Australia!
Now all I have to do is wait... and wait... and wait until about midnight tonight when I'll be hopping into a cab and travelling to the local Airport, ready for my 6am flight to Auckland, New Zealand.
Until then, I hope you all have a spiffing time wherever you may be... unless you're at work, cause thats always a let down.
