Round The World Trip 2006
Well, we're in Hong Kong.
I guess once you've seen it on TV, you start comparing it to the likes of New York and other busy bustling cities.
Truth be told, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon (the bit connected to New Territories and South China) are incredible accomplishments. The Skyscrapers, shopping malls, and streets of this atmospheric humid urban utopia all spell out one thing...The people of Hong Kong are very different from Londoners!
Not only is it the cleanest city I've ever visited, but despite the crazy number of people, it's also the quietest.
Cost of getting around is ridiculously cheap; It's usually about $30 Dollars for a Taxi right across town, which is around 2GBP.
Metro is insanely well organised, punctual and safe. Everything is Air Conditioned but with humidity at a constant 70% it was certainly a necessity.
Everyone we met was friendly and helpful and the Hotel is pretty good for what we need. It's situated within a more rundown area in North West Kowloon which I think adds a little bit extra to this visit. It's interesting to see the class divide in such a different country.
Look out for some word on Melbourne soon, home of the great Steve Iriwn. May his stung soul rest in peace...
