Take two . . .
I go up at 9ish, Laura got up at 6 and went to the summer palace. I went for a wander and left a note saying I would meet her at 3 to go for our train.
On my wander I managed to explode half a litre of tomato juice all over my left boob, in my white boob tube top. It looked like my boob had exploded with blood, so people were staring anyway as I wasn't in the touristy bit, coz of what I was wearing, coz I was singing in the street to my ipod and then to add to it coz I had a bloody tit. In India this woulda been regarded as acceptable.
Laura had bought me a little panda charmed, we named him steamed pumpkin as they have so much pumpkin in Beijing I just love the stuff. He is now attached to my flask. Pumpkin gets me excited about going to see the pandas.
I went back and grabbed half an hour resting of the eyes before Laura and me met up. By the time we fannied around and got the bus to the station, again, we ended up running through the station hoping the same people weren't there from the previous day watching us making the same mistake of not arriving early to board the train. We made it.
I had been joking saying for the price we had paid I was expecting, frilly and fluffy pillows with chocolates on my pillow and all these luxuries. I wasn't far wrong. We had a room with another couple, we were on the top beds, the beds lined with a frilly drape, pillows and thick duvets supplied. This was too luxury for me. I want the crap beds, with no health and safety, as I can never sleep and there is nothing to do. I couldn't hang out the door watching the scenery, I couldn't get off at every stop run around the station bare foot getting chai-ed up. I do miss India sometimes. But I do love how China supplies you with hot water everywhere to refill your tea.
So many people smoke in china, and they all smoke on the buses and trains etc it's so inconsiderate, you forget how awful it is and what it used to be like before the smoking ban. xx.
